More Than a Mall — It’s Salem’s Gathering Place
A Local Landmark,
Reimagined for Today
At Salem Center, shopping is just the beginning. Nestled in the vibrant heart of downtown Salem, we’ve served our city for decades — evolving from a traditional shopping mall into a dynamic community destination.
We’re proud to offer more than 75 retail shops, restaurants, and experiences that reflect the character of Salem. From national brands you love to homegrown businesses you’ll discover for the first time, there’s always something new around every corner.
Our Mission
Community at the Core
We believe in keeping the connection alive. In an age of online everything, we focus on offering something digital can’t replace:
- Human connection
- In-person discovery
- Shared moments with friends, family, and neighbors
Whether you’re meeting a friend for lunch, shopping for something special, or bringing the kids to an event, you’re part of what makes this place thrive.
A Space for All Ages and Interests
Fashion. Food. Fun.
- Grab your go-to coffee before work
- Shop the latest seasonal looks
- Enjoy family-friendly weekend activities
- Take part in community events and local markets
- Experience live music and pop-up shops
Every visit is a new opportunity to connect with the city — and each other.
Our Vision for the Future
As retail continues to shift, Salem Center is staying local, live, and relevant. We’re committed to:
- Supporting local businesses
- Hosting inclusive events for all ages
- Keeping our space clean, safe, and modern
- Celebrating the culture and creativity of our city
We know the mall experience isn’t what it used to be — and we’re proud of that.
Salem Center Under New Ownership
Partners Kelly McDonald, Patrick Carney and Mark Shipman acquired the mall under the entity name OGSC2 LLC. They acquired the mall from Rialto Capital Management, which had stewardship of the property since the 2018 default of a loan held by JP Morgan Chase.
Global commercial real estate and investment management company JLL will continue to provide property management and leasing services for the mall, JLL stated in a press release.
The downtown shopping center is at 401 Center Street NE in historic central Salem. It features a variety of national, regional and local restaurants and shops, including Macy’s, Kohl’s, Ross Dress for Less, Bath & Body Works, American Eagle Outfitters, Victoria’s Secret, Zumiez, Cinebarre Salem 7 theatre, and others.
